Are We There Yet?

Four London-based photographers band together for an exhibition aimed at spotlighting the unsung creatives they believe deserve more recognition. It’s a tough gig, being an artist – nothing new there. Yet, this show ventures a step further, urging a deeper appreciation for the creative life, for those daring enough to embrace it amidst societal indifference. It's a call to celebrate creativity’s vibrancy, recognizing our collective pursuit to create, despite the grind. Here, we share a common thread: the relentless drive to craft, balanced with the reality of making ends meet. A raw, unfiltered homage to creativity's tenacity and the shared journey of artists striving to keep their passion alive

My project within this show focused on capturing portraits of friends who are working artists — people I know who are deeply committed to their craft, even if they don’t always get the recognition they deserve. I photographed them in their creative spaces — the studios, bedrooms, and corners of flats where the real work happens. Alongside the portraits, I shot small details from their spaces — tools, textures, and objects that help build their visual identity.

To go deeper, I asked each of them the same three questions:
– Why are you on this journey?
– What motivates you and keeps you going?
– Any advice to enjoy the journey and not focus on the destination?

Their answers were honest, personal, and varied. I selected quotes that really stayed with me and showed them alongside the images — a small way to highlight not just what they do, but why they keep doing it. This project was about visibility and honesty. A quiet celebration of the people creating every day, even when no one’s watching.
